The company’s executive headquarters and production facilities are housed in North Canton, OH. The Haines legacy began with William L. Haines, who founded the company in 1928. Located in Canton, Ohio, the company published the Stark Legal News (published today by another company) and Ohio Auto Registration Directory. In 1932, we published the first Haines Criss+Cross Directory, which lists households and businesses in an area by street address (Addressakey section) and by phone number (Telokey).

Businesses soon discovered the directory could be used to improve service and delivery, sales and marketing, mailing accuracy and more. Over the years, Haines directories began appearing from coast to coast. Directories now cover more than 75 major markets, including Atlanta, Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Rochester, San Francisco, San Diego, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. The directories, also available on CD, contain more than 30 million records updated annually.

In 1996, Haines combined its Criss+Cross records with detailed property information gathered from county records to create Criss+Cross Plus Real Estate. Covering more than 100 counties, the CD and internet version of the product enable users to research current property information and target specific prospects based on building, financial, and owner/resident criteria. Plus, subscribers can use the product to perform fast and affordable marketing from their desktop. Haines recently released V4i, an entirely web-enabled version of Criss+Cross Plus Real Estate.

To meet the growing demand for mailing and telemarketing lists, Haines established Americalist, its full-service direct mail division. Started in 1970, Americalist provides one-stop-shop direct mail services, including residential and business lists; graphic design of postcards, self-mailers, brochures, newsletters and collateral material; offset and variable data digital printing; lettershop; and database maintenance and hygiene services. Americalist expertly handles the direct marketing needs of virtually every type of business, including radio stations, cable companies, lawn care firms, universities, home improvement companies, financial planners, mortgage brokers, and auto dealerships.

The Americalist Fundraising Services Group was formed to serve the revenue-generating needs of nonprofit organizations. Our neighborhood and direct mail campaigns have helped raise millions of dollars through direct mail and telemarketing for organizations such as the March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Red Cross, Goodwill Industries, Boy Scouts of America, American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, Arthritis Foundation, National Osteoporosis Foundation, and Alzheimer's Foundation. The division executes complete campaigns including volunteer recruitment by phone, strategic planning, list selection and segmentation, package design, copywriting, printing and mailing.

In 1993, Haines Publishing - our phone book division - produced its first large-print directory, providing local businesses with more affordable yellow page advertising opportunities, and consumers with user-friendly phone books known for having wider coverage areas. Today, we publish phone books throughout Ohio and New York.
